In summary, Sankranthiki Vasthunam delivers a festive, colorful experience that appeals to audiences seeking lighthearted family entertainment, but its narrative foundation is uneven. Critics praise the energetic performances of Venkatesh and Aishwarya as well as the lively soundtrack, while noting that the plot suffers from forced jokes and a lack of coherence. The film’s technical execution is competent yet unremarkable. Consequently, the movie provides moderate enjoyment on an initial viewing but leaves limited lasting impact.
The Movie Echo Score Breakdown for Sankranthiki Vasthunam
Art & Craft
In terms of art and craft, the direction by Anil Ravipudi shows a blend of familiar slap‑slap comedy beats with occasional visual flair. Reviewers note competent cinematography from Sameer Reddy and crisp editing that keeps the runtime tight, yet the climax set and some production design elements feel dated and under‑wrought. Overall the technical work is solid but not distinguished.
Character & Emotion
When evaluating character and emotion, Venkatesh’s performance is consistently described as charismatic and reliably comic, while Aishwarya Rajesh receives commendation for nuanced expression and effective dialogue delivery. Child actor Revanth’s Bulli Raju adds spontaneous humor that many reviewers highlight. Conversely, Meenakshi’s portrayal is seen as mis‑cast by some and under‑developed by others, leading to mixed impressions of the ensemble’s depth.
Story & Flow
Regarding story and flow, the plot centers on a rescue mission but is frequently described as incoherent and reliant on forced slapstick set‑pieces. Critics point out a lack of logical progression, repetitive tropes, and thin character motivations, resulting in a narrative that feels more like a series of Instagram‑style jokes than a cohesive storyline. Consequently, the film’s pacing suffers and originality remains limited.
Sensory Experience
In the sensory domain, the soundtrack by Bheems receives consistent praise for its festive energy, with several songs highlighted as effective mood enhancers. Sound design is described as adequate, while the visual palette is noted for its vibrant, colourful presentation that aligns with the Sankranti celebration. Though some technical moments are deemed average, the overall sensory experience contributes positively to the film’s entertaining atmosphere.
Rewatch Factor
The rewatch factor mirrors the film’s mixed reception; audiences enjoy the festive atmosphere and familiar comedy, making it a suitable family outing during holidays. Positive remarks about music, colorfulness, and charismatic leads encourage repeat viewings for light entertainment. However, the uneven story and forced humor limit lasting appeal, resulting in moderate replay value rather than strong longevity.

Satya Akella, a well-known businessman, arrives in India on a business trip invited by the Chief Minister Kesava, played by Naresh. His visit takes an unexpected turn when he is kidnapped by the gang of Biju Pandey, a notorious criminal, in an effort to leverage him as a hostage to secure the release of Biju’s brother, Papa Pandey. The situation becomes even more complicated when the jailer, Upendra Limaye, George Antony, refuses to free Papa without an official government order, which the CM Kesava is hesitant to issue because it could jeopardize his political standing and reputation.
In the midst of this chaos, a dedicated police officer, Meenakshi, played by Meenakshi Chaudhary, begins an investigation with the help of her former encounter specialist, Yadagiri Raju (played by Venkatesh), who is married to Bhagyam (played by Aishwarya Rajesh) and has four children. Raju has kept his past as an ex-encounter specialist private from his wife, which leads to some tension when she learns that he might become involved in dangerous operations once again.
When Meenakshi approaches Raju for assistance, his wife Bhagyam, concerned about rekindling old flames or risking their safety, insists on joining the operation along with her son, Faru, and their household worker. After some deliberation, the Chief Minister permits their involvement. The team plans a daring rescue from the jail, staging a fight to injure Papa Pandey so he needs hospital treatment. They also devise a scheme to trick George Antony and his subordinate Manikya Rao by smuggling Papa Pandey out disguised, but things take a tragic turn when Bhagyam, trying to get Papa to eat her food, accidentally pushes him off a cliff. Miraculously, Papa barely survives but is later hit by a bus, killing him instantly.
In a bid to outsmart Biju Pandey, Raju ingeniously tricks him by changing Papa Pandey’s clothes and manipulating him with strings, making him appear like a puppet. Meanwhile, Bhagyam and Meenakshi continue their disagreements, each fighting for control and influence, while Raju and his team work tirelessly to maintain peace. Tensions escalate into a fierce shootout between Biju Pandey’s gang and their rivals, during which Biju learns of his brother Papa’s death. Despite the setback, the group manages to escape with Satya Akella.
However, the pursuit continues, resulting in a confrontation where Raju confronts Biju Pandey, demonstrating his unwavering determination to protect Akella. Raju ultimately defeats and kills Biju, rescuing Akella from danger. Afterward, Raju tricks Biju Pandey once again by using Papa Pandey’s altered clothes and setting a trap, resulting in Biju’s death.
Despite the chaos, Raju chooses not to return Akella to the CM’s control immediately. Instead, he exposes the corruption of Keshava’s uncle, an MLA, who had humiliated and falsely accused Raju’s teacher. Raju demands an apology, threatening to leak news of Akella’s kidnapping if his demands are not met. The scheme pays off when Raju’s teacher is cleared of all charges, and Akella is safely sent back to the United States.
Back at home, Raju and Bhagyam are left shocked to find that Meenakshi has been transferred to their village as their new neighbor, setting the stage for future conflicts between Raju, his wife, and his ex-colleague. The film concludes with lingering tension and unresolved issues, hinting that peace might be temporary and new challenges lie ahead for this complicated family.
