Kayla is a young woman trying to piece her life back together, carrying the weight of heartbreak from her cheating ex Trish and memories of a brutal assault by a mugger named Jimmy. When she learns that Jimmy is no longer in prison, Kayla and her friends decide to escape for the weekend and head to the remote village of Mabon. They invite Trish to join, surprising her since she had not been allowed back into the group after the breakup. On the road, a hitchhiker joins them and hints at a Summer Solstice celebration in Mabon, a festival built on ritual and fear. At the house, they discover marijuana plants in the rooms, delighting most of the group but unsettling Trish. The hitchhiker reappears to guide them toward the festival, which heightens her reluctance to stay and simply unwind.

At the gathering, the locals explain that the ritual is dedicated to the goddess Mabon and that each participant must name a fear to offer up. The list includes Blake’s fear of dogs, Stacey’s fear of aging, Trish’s fear of bugs, and Kayla’s fear of Jimmy. While the ritual feels strange, they participate with eagerness, hoping for a later night of revelry. A warning comes from a local woman, Mrs. March, who urges them to flee before the end of the rite because the participants are said to become sacrifices. The local priest, Father Saxon, shrugs off the warning as superstition. As the ceremonies unfold, the group experiences vivid hallucinations that blur the line between reality and fear. In the turmoil, Trish and Kayla rekindle their romance, offering a glimmer of warmth amid the terror. Mrs. March returns to remind them that the hallucinations cannot physically harm them but can drive them toward self-harm unless they confront their fears and endure.

Tragically, Stacey and Blake fall to the effects of their visions—Stacey dies in a gruesome accident with gardening tools, while Blake is killed after a collision that leaves him impaled on a truck’s horns. Trish fights to manage the panic, applying cleaning fluid to her arms and rinsing at her mouth in a desperate bid to wash away imagined bugs, but Kayla finds her in time and helps her into the car. The crowd grows tense as Kayla spots the attacker among them, a moment that shakes her to the core. She taps into an inner strength, declares that she is no longer afraid, and the illusion of the mugger dissolves. In a final act of defiance, she also sets fire to an effigy of Mabon, breaking the ritual’s hold on both of them. With the spell broken and danger minimized, the villagers step aside to let Kayla and Trish leave Mabon behind and start anew.
