Romance on Lushan Mountain 1980

Zhou Jun Zhang Yu, the daughter of a retired Kuomintang general, Zhou Zhenwu Wu Hao, travels from America to mainland China in the 1970s to sightsee and reconnect with a homeland that has just opened up after long years of political tension. On the scenic Mount Lu, she encounters Geng Hua Guo Kaimin, a bright young man buried in the ordinary concerns of preparing for his college entrance exams. Their encounter blossoms into something warm and unexpected, as two people from very different political worlds find common ground in their shared curiosity and longing. Geng Hua is not alone in his journey; he is escorting his ailing mother, Geng Hua’s mother Shiming Zhi, to the mountain for recuperation as his own life treads a tightrope between duty and desire.
