Ram, Girish Kumar, is a wealthy city-born young man who grows up in Australia as the son of billionaire Siddharth and his wife Ashwini. Opposite him, Sona Singh is a traditional, down-to-earth girl from Punjab raised by her brother Raghuveer Singh. When their father remarries and the family is expelled, their world turns upside down: their mother dies, and her tomb sits on a small patch of land that the Zamindar Lala claims as his own because their mother had taken a loan from him. Raghuveer Sonu Sood volunteers to work day and night to repay the loan, provided the tomb remains undisturbed. Jaiswal agrees to support them, and the helpful local station master Shankar lends a hand as well.
As they grow older, Sona’s best friend Ria Bhargav arrives to invite her to a wedding, and Ram comes to town with Ashwini, whose brother Krishna Kant Bhargav is Ria’s father. A slow-burning romance begins between Ram and Sona, but Ashwini disapproves because Sona’s family isn’t wealthy enough to meet her standards. Complicating matters, Ram is set to marry Dolly, the daughter of Jayprakash Bhargav’s business partner. Jayprakash, Nassar, is a powerful force in town, and Dolly is played by Jacqueline Fernandez. The family’s disapproval fuels a volatile clash, and Ashwini shatters the couple’s hopes by publicly humiliating Sona and Raghu, forcing them out of the house. Ram begs Raghu to trust him, and Raghu gives him a challenge that will prove the depth of his love.
To win, Ram must prove his devotion through hard labor: tending cows, clearing fields, and growing more crops than Raghu by the season’s end. If he fails, he will be banished from the village forever. The plot thickens as Lala and his son Ajay—their scheming ways mirrored by Dolly and her father—try every trick to derail Ram’s bid for love. Ram endures the grueling routine, facing spicy days with red chilies and simple rice, pushing himself to outproduce Raghu and win Sona’s hand. The effort culminates in Ram’s victory on the harvest front, but the triumph is interrupted when Rao, Jayprakash’s ally, Ajay, and Lala kidnap Sona and attempt to force her into an arranged union with Ajay.
In a brutal confrontation, Ram kills Rao, and Ajay meets his end as well. Raghu fights back fiercely, delivering a brutal beating to Jayprakash and Lala. Accepting responsibility to protect Ram’s future, Raghu goes to prison for seven years. The story closes with Raghu’s release, and Ram and Sona’s wedding witnessed by their families, with Ashwini finally accepting Sona as Ram’s wife and a new chapter beginning for their clan.
