Grimm, a burned-out New Yorker, is down on his luck and longs to escape both the grind of the city and the life he’s fallen into. Desperate, he dresses up as a clown to rob a Midtown Manhattan bank, pulling off a daring heist with his accomplices: his girlfriend Phyllis and his best friend Loomis. The loot amounts to $1 million, and the trio sets into motion a plan that seems foolproof on paper but starts to unravel the moment they step into the real world. The cast includes Junjun Quintana, Francine Garcia, Mimi Juareza, and Miggs Cuaderno, bringing a mix of grit, nerves, and dark humor to the burdened city they must traverse.

The heist itself is smooth and uneventful, a momentary high that quickly presses against a far trickier obstacle: the getaway. The Brooklyn-Queens Expressway, crucial to slipping away, appears gutted of its signs due to ongoing construction, leaving the trio lost in an unfamiliar Brooklyn neighborhood. A would-be thief robs them of nearly everything—except the bank money taped securely beneath their clothes—shifting the balance of risk and ruin.

After scrambling to change into fresh clothes at Phyllis’s apartment, the tension spikes. They encounter a paranoid schizophrenic tenant who confronts them, and almost instantly a street-wide disaster intensifies: a fire erupts across the street, and the fire department’s efforts to push their car away from a hydrant inadvertently send it rolling downhill and over an embankment. The escape plan is already teetering, and the city’s chaos seems to close in around them.

When the trio finally flags down a cab, communication becomes another hurdle: the foreign driver doesn’t understand English. Loomis, desperate to keep the plan alive, leaps from the moving cab to grab another ride, only to collide with a newsstand and knock himself unconscious. The driver drives away, leaving Loomis behind in the street, and the team’s momentum sputters as a consequence. Additional complications stack up—a particular, meticulous bus driver; tense run-ins with mobsters; and Phyllis’s increasingly heavy news that she’s pregnant with Grimm’s child—each moment piling pressure on their fragile exit strategy.

Meanwhile, Rotzinger, a world-weary but relentless chief of the New York City Police Department, refuses to let the case go. He doggedly trails the fleeing trio, chasing the idea of a major crime boss who might be pulled into the mix with them. A tense meeting unfolds on board an airliner at the airport, where the robbers and the chief come face to face. Yet the truth only lands later: the chief realizes who they are after the plane has already taken off, leaving a skein of consequences in his wake and a city still trying to make sense of the night’s impossible twists.

Across its runtime, the film threads together grit, misfortune, and a stubborn will to escape, painting a portrait of a city that fights back with every neon glare, siren, and crowded street.
