What Is Queen Lear About?
The premise of Queen Lear without spoilers.
A peasant women's theatre group in the mountains of southern Turkey transforms Shakespeare’s "King Lear" into "Queen Lear." Beginning in the early 2000s, the group began performing their own life stories before adapting the classic play. They now journey along challenging, dusty roads to remote mountain villages where basic necessities are scarce. As they perform, their experiences intertwine with the themes of the play, exploring the complexities of age, poverty, and morality.
