An unnamed orphan, abandoned in the garbage soon after birth, grows up to be a ruthless ruffian who will do anything for money. Nassar as Thoguthi plays a man who thrives on coercion and control, pulling the strings to orchestrate violence and exploitation. In one brutal act, he orders a rape of Seetha, a bride-to-be, on the eve of her wedding, at the urging of Annapoorani, Sathyapriya who runs an orphanage with corrupt practices that Seetha had previously exposed enough to have Annapoorani arrested. The deed marks a defining fracture in the lives around them and ignites a chain of choices that will ripple through a tight-knit slum community.

The groom-to-be, moved by sympathy, offers to marry Seetha, but she refuses the arrangement. Instead, Seetha seeks shelter in the house of Aaya, played by Manorama, a woman who lives in the same crowded, sunbaked quarters of the slum. There she encounters the man she has been forced to distrust, and through a series of tense, fraught encounters, a complicated bond begins to form. The neighborhood watches in disbelief as the once-feared thug and the woman he harmed begin to inch toward a fragile, improbable understanding. Seetha, in a candid narration to the people of the area, recounts the sequence of events that forced her to leave her father and seek refuge in the slum, and the community’s sympathy widens as they see her resilience and pain.

Against the odds, Seetha moves into the ruffian’s house, and a strange, tender connection gradually grows between them. Under the weight of her faith, he gains a new name, Seetharaman, as R. Parthiban steps into the role of a man trying to redefine himself and his responsibilities. Yet the past is not easily erased. Thoguthi, the man Seetharaman previously worked for, escalates his crimes and kills Annapoorani when she demands a cut of his illicit gains. The killing triggers a cascade of consequences: Seetharaman is arrested because of his prior association with Thoguthi, and the authorities press him into becoming an approver to testify against his former boss. The twisted calculus of justice forces Seetharaman to weigh loyalty against protection of his family.

Thoguthi, desperate to silence the testimony, hatches a deadly plan. He plants a bomb in a lunchbox—an ominous trap that mirrors the one Seetha had once sent to Seetharaman—replacing the original, so the device will detonate the moment the lunchbox is opened. Seetharaman, meanwhile, is busy with extra work to buy a gift for Seetha and their wedding anniversary, and he skips lunch. He returns with the lunchbox and sets off to visit the temple with Seetha, unaware of the danger that now stalks him.

The fated moment comes when Seetha, returning home to fetch her child’s feeding bottle forgotten in the rush, opens the lunchbox out of curiosity. The explosion kills her instantly, a moment that lances through Seetharaman’s life with devastating force. Enraged and shattered, he confronts Thoguthi and nearly ends him, but the cries of his child pull him back from vengeance and remind him of the responsibilities he must shoulder. Thoguthi attempts to flee, but is fatally struck by a vehicle, leaving Seetharaman to flee with his child and raise him alone.

In the end, the survivor must navigate the long, quiet road of rebuilding a life after violence, loss, and betrayal. Seetharaman, now a man tempered by love and tragedy, walks forward with his family, carrying the memory of Seetha and the weight of the choices that brought him to this moment. The film closes on a note of resilience, a reminder that personal reform can coexist with the scars of a brutal past, and that family ties can endure even amid heartbreak and danger.
