On a scenic country road in Ireland over a decade ago, love blossomed unexpectedly for Holly, a wandering young tourist played by Hilary Swank, and Gerry, a charismatic local lad portrayed by Gerard Butler. Despite the sparks between them, Holly’s formidable mother, portrayed by Kathy Bates, had her reservations, worried that her adventurous daughter was too young to tie the knot. Fast forward to the present, and the once fearless Holly finds herself grappling with her identity after Gerry’s untimely death from a brain tumor, leaving her a widow just before her thirtieth birthday.
