Pratiggya 1975

Ajit Singh, Dharmendra, an illiterate truck driver, learns from his dying adoptive mother that he is the last surviving son of an honest cop who was killed and his entire family wiped out by the feared dacoit Bharat Thakur, Ajit Khan, and swears revenge. On his way toward Dinapur, the dacoit’s hideout, he meets a gravely injured inspector, D’Souza, Satyendra Kapoor, who dies protecting his stash of ammunition from local dacoits. Before dying, D’Souza entrusts the weapons to Ajit, and he uses this cache of machine guns and grenades to pose as a cop, setting up a makeshift police station in the village with help from the locals. Ajit’s love interest is Radha Lachman Thakur, Hema Malini, a feisty village belle who hates Bharat Thakur’s ways and supports Ajit’s mission. Bharat Thakur himself is a cunning man who recruits his ally Chandi, Keshto Mukherjee, the village drunk, as a spy within the new police nexus. The story follows the escalating struggle between Ajit and Bharat, as Ajit strives to avenge his family and fulfill his Pratigya (Promise), with the village standing behind him.
