Recently losing his job as a forensic accountant, Brian Jennings finds it challenging to adapt to his new role as a stay-at-home father for his stepson Lucas. Lucas faces bullying at school due to his effeminate demeanor and lack of interest in sports, leaving Brian determined to support him. As his wife Emily returns to her job at a law firm, Brian takes the initiative to facilitate friendships for Lucas, arranging a playdate with the new, outgoing neighbor, Jeff Eamon, who is an athletic stay-at-home dad, and his unusually strong and emotionally disconnected son, CJ.

Their afternoon at Buckee Cheese, a bustling indoor playground, quickly turns into a nightmare when a group of armed mercenaries ambushes them, leading to a dramatic escape in a stolen minivan filled with chaos and adrenaline-fueled chases. During the ensuing pandemonium, Jeff reveals that he is actually a disgraced former Delta Force soldier. His connection to CJ runs deep, as he discovered him trapped in a top-secret facility while working night shifts as a security guard, mistakenly believing CJ was a kidnapped child and deciding to rescue him.

As they seek refuge at Jeff’s estranged father’s home, Gordon, they confront his reluctance to assist, shedding light on Jeff’s own feelings of abandonment. In a desperate attempt for answers, they interrogate a facility employee named Galifianakish, who unveils a startling revelation: CJ—referred to as “Clone Jeff”—is the inaugural successful clone of Jeff, created by the eccentric billionaire scientist Simon Maddox and Jeff’s former commander, Colonel Kurtz. The intention behind this cloning endeavor is revealed to be sinister; Kurtz believes Jeff embodies the ideal soldier—competent yet too empathetic for conventional warfare—thus launching a covert program to produce emotionless super-soldiers devoid of hesitation or PTSD through routine drug tests that facilitated the extraction of Jeff’s DNA.

As threats to Emily’s safety escalate, a conflicted Brian makes a critical decision to betray the group by leading Jeff into a trap, facilitating CJ’s capture. However, redemption lies in Brian’s heart, and he aids in orchestrating Jeff’s rescue. Using a GPS tracker hidden within Lucas’s phone—concealed in CJ’s jacket—they navigate into a heavily fortified second facility teeming with feral clones of CJ. Amid intense confrontations, Maddox commands CJ to eliminate Jeff using a crossbow as the ultimate litmus test for his perceived emotional detachment. In a twist of fate, CJ defies orders, opting instead to shoot Maddox, thereby embracing the concept of family that transcends biology and proving that even clones can cultivate humanity through meaningful relationships.

In an action-packed climax, Brian creates a diversion by crashing a vehicle, allowing Jeff the opportunity to confront and overpower Kurtz. Jeff takes the dramatic step of detonating explosives he had previously concealed within the facility, resulting in the annihilation of the clones and the operational core. In the aftermath, the four—Jeff, CJ, Brian, and Lucas—emerge from the fiery explosion, visibly changed. As the dust settles, Brian and Lucas strengthen their connection, with Lucas proudly declaring Brian as the best dad. In a mid-credits scene hinting at potential future adventures, Jeff and CJ appear at Brian’s doorstep in the early hours, seeking shelter after their home has been reduced to ashes by yet another aggressive faction, intimating that Maddox and Kurtz’s global cloning agenda remains a looming threat.
