Payback Season 2012

Jerome, Adam Deacon, is a successful young footballer who is in the midst of the most important season of his career. When he goes to visit his mom on the housing estate he grew up on, he accidentally bumps into some of his old childhood friends, led by drug-dealing loanshark and gangster Baron David Ajala. Jerome offers to take the lads on a night out, hoping to reconnect, but Baron, jealous of Jerome’s rising profile, uses the moment to demand money and asks for £10,000 to tide over his cashflow problem. Jerome agrees, thinking it’s a straightforward loan, but he soon learns that Baron has enlisted his younger brother Aaron to help him on a hit. When he confronts Baron, the gangster explains that to keep his brother safe, he will need another £10,000. Not realizing he is being blackmailed, Jerome goes along with it.

A week later, Baron returns with a renewed threat for more money. Realising he’s being played, Jerome enlists his trainer, Leo Gregory, to inform Baron that there will be no more payments. The warning backfires when Baron trashes Jerome’s car and viciously attacks the trainer with a knife, leaving him in intensive care. With no choice but to put a stop to Baron, Jerome heads back to his flat to confront him, only to be stabbed in the leg by Baron in the process. With time slowly running out, one of Baron’s heavies arrives and intervenes, stopping the fight between the two. Baron orders the gunman to shoot Jerome, but the heavy shoots Baron instead before fleeing. Jerome is left on the floor, breathing heavily.
