Paranormal Island 2014

On Blarney Island in Grass Lake, Illinois, a century-old mystery casts a quiet shadow over the present. In 1927, Sammy loses the island deed in a tense poker game against a rival bar owner, a loss that drives him to a desperate act—shooting himself. Shortly after, an unseen presence begins to stalk the island, attacking the rival bar owner and hinting that a haunted history refuses to stay buried.

Fast forward to more recent times, when an unseen presence resurfaces, attacking a couple at the pier in 2014 and signaling that the haunting still lingers.

Mike [Randy Wayne] and his college friends [Ben Elliott] and Lori arrive at the pier to begin work at the Blarney Island bar, now owned by Mike’s cousin Ron. They meet coworker and local girl Ivy [Briana Evigan], and soon after are ferried to the island in a boat skippered by Carl [Lance Henriksen], who warns everyone to avoid staying on the island past midnight. The seasoned skipper’s caution sits uneasily with the group as they step onto the dim, wind-worn deck of the place where stories live as much as the living do.

During his shift, Mike confides that he is pursuing a paranormal research project for school, exploring the island’s supposed hauntings and the legend of a spirit known as The Caretaker. Carl tries to tamp down the rumor, insisting the island isn’t haunted, even as the night grows thick with unfamiliar sounds and shifting shadows. The crew settles into a tense camaraderie after hours, but the sense of foreboding intensifies when the lights flicker and fail. Lori is stalked by a ghostly figure, and the group discovers that Andy, the DJ, is still on the island with them. The boat at the dock disappears, leaving them stranded in a place where the line between past and present blurs.

Ivy begins to sense a more personal horror when she glimpses the ghost of her dead sister Janet, who warns that The Caretaker is coming for them. The tension tightens as doors slam of their own accord and strange sounds echo through the halls. In an attempt to keep the group moving, Jerry swims to retrieve a boat and bring it back to shore, convincing security guard Becker to follow. The uneasy plan goes sideways when Becker handcuffs Jerry to the boat’s railing, unable to trust the escalating fear around them.

Becker and Jerry return to the island, and the unseen presence closes in. The group crowds into the bar’s locked spaces as more bodies surface, including a grim discovery in The Caretaker’s locked room. The danger escalates as the haunting manifests directly, and Becker pays the price as the entity strikes. Jerry manages to free the trapped crew, and he, Mike, and Ivy hastily pull away toward a safer route. Carl arrives in another boat to assist, and the trio breaks Jerry’s handcuffs, swimming toward safety with Ivy pulled underwater for a perilous moment.

Mike dives after her and brings Ivy to the surface, just as the apparitions of The Caretaker’s victims rise in the water. The spectral figures hover and then, in a moment of eerie quiet, seem to intervene—saving Ivy—before the trio makes a final dash for safety with Carl’s help. The night ends with a sense of uneasy relief: the hauntings have not vanished, but the spirits appear to have chosen a protective act over Ivy, offering a glimmer of hope that the island’s dark history might finally be acknowledged rather than ignored. The mystery remains, the past and present connected by the lingering power of the island and the people who dared to confront it.
