Rahul Prakash Udyavar is hired as an English teacher at Saraswati Vidya Mandir, a well-regarded school in Mumbai. On his first day, he attends a staff meeting led by Principal Aditya Sahay, Surya Bhagawan Das, who announces that an email with new policies for the school’s development will be sent soon. Rahul quickly builds rapport with both students and colleagues, setting a tone of curiosity and collaboration that hints at a hopeful start.

A week into his tenure, the mood among teachers shifts when the email reveals a plan to expand the classroom body in an uneven way and to require all students to participate in extracurricular activities. The move is paired with a sharp rise in fees, and the entire school community—students, parents, and teachers—feels blindsided and unsettled. The teachers approach the principal seeking clarity and relief, but he defends the decision, anchoring it in the school’s long-standing reputation and future ambitions. Faced with mounting pressure, the teachers consider resignation, yet they fear the management will promptly replace them with a more cooperative staff.

The situation grows more complicated as the school management pursues aggressive growth and brings media planners into the picture to polish the school’s public image. They push for involvement in TV reality shows and other PR-driven activities, framed as essential for securing prestige and financial viability. The teachers reluctantly comply, but the enforced changes begin to weigh heavily on the students, creating stress and unforeseen consequences. In a turning point, Rahul, aided by Waghmare the school peon, uncovers a crucial file that had been sent to Sahay by the management, exposing the underlying truth behind the policy push.

Armed with this knowledge, Rahul mobilizes the teachers and students for a strike the very next day. The protest draws media attention, prompting scrutiny of the principal and the management. In a candid moment, Sahay reveals that the push for profits came from the higher-ups, who pressured him to upgrade facilities and threatened to demolish the school if he did not comply. He confesses that he could not secure the necessary loans or financial backing, acknowledging his own failure as a principal. Despite his admission, the teachers and students respond with empathy, urging him not to resign. The film closes on a note of public debate, as the media critique the commercialization of education, and Sahay continues to serve as principal, underscoring the film’s themes of integrity, responsibility, and the human cost of corporate ambitions in schools.
