Madhava [R. Madhavan] is a doctor who briefly captured the public imagination as a film heartthrob, but he.rejects a continuing movie career after promising his late father to devote his life to medicine and social service. This steadfast commitment to heal and help others shapes every major choice he makes.

Madhava marries Simi [Simran], and the couple begins building a life together. Yet a revelation about his past love affair with a college friend, with whom he fathered a son, shatters the peace: Madhava’s mother [Seema] and his wife grow furious with him. Simi, unable to tolerate the hurt, divorces Madhava, but they remain close and agree to help one another find new partners, even arranging each other’s second marriages.

In a bid to move forward, Simi decides to arrange Madhava’s marriage to Chella [Sneha], a nurse at his hospital, while Madhava plans to marry Simi to Azhagu [Raghava Lawrence], a professional stage dancer. To win over Azhagu’s father and secure the match, Madhava agrees to give up the land on which he is constructing a hospital for cancer patients.

On the day the two weddings are set, a turn of greed upends the plan: Azhagu ends up marrying one of his cousins after learning about his father’s greed, and Chella’s parents call off the wedding when they learn about Madhava’s past. In the end, Madhava and Simi remarry, and Chella marries Kumaran, Madhava’s colleague.
