Many years ago, in a galaxy far, far away… The saga begins by revisiting key moments from the prequels, especially the debates within the Jedi Council about Qui-Gon Jinn’s assertion that Anakin Skywalker is the prophesied Chosen One destined to bring balance to the Force. The story resumes with Qui-Gon introducing Anakin, a talented podracer, to Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi, sparking Obi-Wan’s initial curiosity and cautious optimism about Anakin’s potential. Meanwhile, Jedi Master Yoda hesitates to accept another apprentice for Obi-Wan, fearing the risks yet constrained by the Council’s strict rules.

During their intense battle with Darth Maul, Qui-Gon is fatally wounded, prompting Obi-Wan to avenge his master. Before he dies, Qui-Gon urges Obi-Wan to promise to train Anakin, a vow Obi-Wan accepts, despite the Jedi Council’s reservations. Obi-Wan is then elevated to Jedi knight and begins to train Anakin, who quickly expresses admiration for Obi-Wan, as well as for Yoda and Mace Windu, his other Jedi mentors. The film portrays Anakin’s growing skills as a Jedi and his secret romance with Padmé Amidala, which he keeps hidden from the Jedi Council.

Amidst these developments, Anakin confides in Padmé his internal conflicts: craving more power and fearing he might not fulfill his destiny. As he struggles, he is also torn by recurring dreams of Padmé dying, which he interprets as a premonition and a sign of his failure. The Sith Lord Palpatine, secretly manipulating events, begins to influence Anakin, promising him knowledge of the dark side to save Padmé. This temptation sets Anakin on a treacherous path, with the shadow of his internal conflict escalating.

The narrative builds to the tragic Duel on Mustafar, where Obi-Wan confronts Anakin after discovering his turn to the dark side. Obi-Wan’s vow to just restrain his fallen apprentice ultimately culminates in a ferocious, emotional lightsaber battle. Obi-Wan’s overconfidence allows Anakin to gain the upper hand, culminating in Obi-Wan leaving him gravely injured and defeated. As Obi-Wan laments his perceived failure, Anakin’s limbs are severed, and he is left burning on the volcanic planet. The dark transformation is complete when Obi-Wan, mourning his fallen friend, leaves Anakin for dead, only for Darth Sidious Palpatine to rescue and mechanize him into Darth Vader, garbed in black armor with a respirator.

Meanwhile, Padmé, discovering she is pregnant, shares her hope that there remains some good within Anakin before she dies at her childbirth on Naboo, giving birth to twins, Leia and Luke. The Jedi leadership, Yoda and Obi-Wan, secretly arrange for the children’s safety, with Leia placed with Bail and Breha Organa, and Luke entrusted to Obi-Wan himself, who hides on Tatooine, vowing to stay in exile and watch over them.

Ten years pass, and a new threat emerges. The galaxy is under Imperial rule, chaos reigns, and Clone Troopers, now turned against the Jedi through Order 66, execute a deadly purge. A young Jedi named Velti fights against the Clone on Coruscant but is overwhelmed and killed. Elsewhere on Tatooine, Obi-Wan, now going by Ben, lives in obscurity, working as a humble craftsman. He is haunted by memories of Anakin, Padmé, and his past duties. Although Obi-Wan’s mind is plagued with regret, he begins to sense that the shadow of the dark side still lingers.

On Tatooine, Leia, adopted by Bail and Breha Organa, is a curious girl who dreams of more than her noble life. Her adventures lead her to be kidnapped by mercenaries, who are working to lure Obi-Wan out of hiding. Obi-Wan, upon learning of Leia’s abduction, must confront his past and embrace his role once again. Throughout his journey, Obi-Wan encounters bounty hunters, Inquisitors, and the remnants of the Jedi order, all hunting for him. Among the Inquisitors, Reva (Third Sister), driven by revenge and obsession, seeks to find Obi-Wan and ultimately Darth Vader himself, whom she believes is still alive.

As Obi-Wan carefully maneuvers through Daiyu and other dangerous territories, he faces relentless pursuit from the Inquisitors, especially Reva, who is willing to risk everything to capture him, fueled by her own traumatic past. Obi-Wan’s path intersects with charismatic allies such as Tala Durith, who once served the Empire but now helps him. He also receives critical aid from a smuggler named Haja Estree. Obi-Wan’s efforts lead him to rescue Leia, who remains resilient despite being captured, and to confront the horrifying truths about Vader.

The story escalates as Vader and Obi-Wan finally meet again in a fierce, emotionally charged duel on Jabiim, revealing the depth of their shared pain and guilt. Obi-Wan, weakened but resolute, fights to protect Luke, Leia, and the hope for a future where the Jedi might one day rise again. Reva’s quest for justice also culminates in her choosing mercy over revenge, symbolized by her decision to drop her lightsaber, leaving her future open.

Meanwhile, Vader, obsessed with hunting Obi-Wan, receives orders from the Emperor to emphasize his pursuit, emphasizing that the past must be left behind — or so he claims. Obi-Wan, sensing the immense darkness consuming Vader and himself, makes a final, sacrificial stand to give Leia and the others a chance to escape.

In the closing moments, Obi-Wan safely returns Luke to Owen [Lars] and [Beru] on Tatooine, affirming his promise to watch over him. His encounter with the Force ghost of Qui-Gon Jinn signifies his acceptance of his role and readiness to begin anew. The saga concludes with Obi-Wan disappearing into the desert, leaving behind his old fears, remembering that even amidst darkness, hope endures.
