A documentary-style drama that centers on family, ambition, and a country’s political heartbeat, this story follows Noy Coco Martin as he is forced to become the breadwinner for his kin and ends up disguising himself as a journalist to craft a documentary about the 2010 presidential campaign of Sen. Benigno ‘Noynoy’ Aquino III.
Noy’s risky ascent begins when he fakes his way into a major TV station, owned by Jane Vice Ganda. In this hidden assignment, he is sent to chronicle Sen. Aquino’s campaigns across the archipelago—Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao—capturing the grind from dawn to midnight, moving between live broadcasts and later edits, all while nurturing a budding dream of becoming a trusted news reporter.
Divine Erich Gonzales, Noy’s girlfriend, wrestles with doubt at first but gradually supports his pursuit as the project takes shape. At the same time, Bong Joem Bascon, Noy’s older brother crippled by polio and envious of Noy’s streak of luck, becomes entangled with a dangerous drug-dealing circle, a development that strains the entire family.
As the investigation into Noy’s background intensifies, jealous TV presenters probe the deception and bring their findings to Jane. Noy is summoned, dismissed, and then offered one last chance to cover Aquino’s campaign in Tarlac.
A tragic turn comes when Noy returns to his home in Artex Compound and discovers Bong being mauled by two thugs; in the chaos, Bong falls into floodwaters and is killed, a moment that seals the film’s emotional gravity.
The denouement unfolds with a quiet, solemn ritual: Noy’s family lights a candle before his portrait while Aquino delivers a rallying speech to the crowd. Throughout, the film blends real documentary footage with dramatic scenes and is saturated with campaign slogans, delivering a living portrait of poverty, resilience, and hope that speaks to the Filipino family.
