Mysore Matha, [Shankar Nag], is a carefree and cheerful individual who lives life to the fullest despite being unemployed. He shares his days with a young boy named Chottey, [Manjunath], his loyal sidekick and constant companion. Mysore forms a deep bond with Chottey and cares for him like family. He is well-loved by his neighbors, including Mysore Matha’s neighbour [Upasane Seetharam].

Kallesh Nuggehalli, [Ramesh Bhat], Mysore’s best friend, falls in love with Jaya Jagirdar, [Arundathi Nag], and asks Mysore to help arrange a meeting with her. Jaya returns his feelings, and the two marry. Her father, [Loknath], a retired bank manager, is skeptical of Kallesh and rejects the alliance. Despite his objections, Jaya and Kallesh begin their married life together.

At first, the newlyweds enjoy a happy life, but domestic tensions soon surface. Kallesh’s mother arrives to stay with them, bringing orthodox routines and a stern critique of Jaya, which strains their relationship. Jaya tries to open up and share her struggles, but Kallesh dismisses her concerns, insisting that his mother must come first. Frustrated and hurt, Jaya leaves and moves into a women’s hostel.

Unaware of these developments, Mysore eventually learns about the rift and confronts Kallesh. He shares a personal story from his past, describing how his own brother and sister-in-law faced similar conflicts. That ordeal ended with his sister-in-law’s death shortly after giving birth to Chottey, a tragedy Mysore remembers with quiet gravity. This tale helps Kallesh understand the importance of valuing and supporting a spouse in good times and bad.

Kallesh comes to recognize his mistakes and works toward reconciliation with Jaya. The couple resolves to address their differences, to nurture their love, and to weather future challenges together rather than letting them pull them apart. They vow to keep their bond alive, supported by the memory of what they share and the lessons learned from Mysore’s heartfelt confession.
