Ngangkung centers on the act of summoning spirits by a bomoh to obtain winning lottery numbers. This ritual may involve bringing offerings to the bomoh, items that can be hard to find such as old kris or old coins. The film follows Azim, Shaheizy Sam, a driver who lives in a quiet suburban village with his wife Suri Eira Syazira and their daughter. His two close friends, Tasnim Azad Jazmin and Wan Angah Raja Lawak, are deeply involved in gambling on the lottery, and their activities are known to their wives.

Azim had never imagined himself in their world, but the duo’s persistence pulls him toward the gambling nights where he begins to chase numbers alongside them, all while his wife remains unaware. What starts as a reluctant curiosity gradually grows into a full-blown habit, drawing him away from his family and the ordinary rhythm of suburban life.

Together they experiment with different approaches, turning to several shamans—the bomoh—in hopes of uncovering the right numbers. The quest sends them through a sequence of strange, funny, and sometimes unsettling events as they seek artifacts and rituals to appease the spirits and bend luck in their favor. The allure of a big win becomes more powerful than common sense, and the trio finds themselves navigating a precarious path between superstition and danger.

As the days pass, Azim’s fixation on the lottery starts to erode his relationship with his family. He neglects Suri and their daughter, while Tasnim and Wan also drift into more reckless and insecure lifestyles, each chasing a dream that grows increasingly costly.
