From the small-town energy of Thanjavur to the bustling streets of Trichy, the story follows a down-on-his-luck youth named Sathya Sathya, who ekes out a living by visiting his childhood friend Sivakozhundhu Sivakozhundhu, a hotel manager, and spending his day with the latter’s salary. Life feels like a routine of chance and luck until Sathya meets Ramya Ramya, a bank manager, and a spark is lit. He is convinced that if he happens to see a girl three times in one day, she will be his lucky lady. So he and Sivakozhundhu roam the city, chasing glimpses of Ramya across Trichy, not once but twice, moving from street corners to hostel hallways in search of her. The chase leads Sathya to a night he won’t forget, when he decides to stay close to the hostel opposite Sivakozhundhu’s room, hoping destiny will do the rest. The morning after, he musters the courage to propose in Ramya’s bank, hoping that a public confession will seal the fate of their budding romance.

As Sathya clings to this fragile hope, Sivakozhundhu—ever cunning about his hotel’s fortunes—decides to push Sathya toward a new path. He engineers Sathya’s ascent as his assistant in a modest 2.5-star hotel, the very place where Sivakozhundhu once held the reins as manager. The plan is simple in outline but fraught with personal risk: Sathya asks Ramya for a loan to help improve the hotel’s prospects. Ramya, however, refuses the loan, offering instead a practical alternative that shifts the dynamic of their relationship. She suggests bringing in a celebrity, an idea that leads to a higher-profile boost for the hotel, with a cameo by the film’s notable appearance by Tamannaah Bhatia.

The hotel’s fortunes rise, and the trio’s days take on a brisk, conspiratorial rhythm. Yet danger looms when thugs—henchmen of a debt-pressured, vendetta-driven local boss—close in on Ramya and Sathya. In a tense moment, Sathya acts swiftly to shield Ramya from harm, and in the aftermath, Ramya opens up about a checkered past: she once killed a dog during a chaotic incident in Chennai, a confession that lands her in trouble with the Blue Cross and the authorities, who convict her for ten days and fine her. Sathya’s laughter at the irony cuts deeply, puncturing the fragile trust between them. Ramya feels betrayed, insisting Sathya remove himself from the station and town if he cannot understand her world.

Seeking to understand pain firsthand, Sathya and Sivakozhundhu hatch a bold plan. They decide to experience prison life by getting themselves jailed, a reckless experiment that ends with them severely humbling themselves through a wild night of excess and a brutal brawl with the local don known as Scorpio Shankar. The next day brings a fresh danger as Shankar tracks them down, furious that Ramya’s supposed mortgage actions have put him in peril. He threatens to kill Ramya that very night, claiming she has seized his prized Scorpio car over unpaid loans. In a chase that moves to a busy park, Sathya and Sivakozhundhu confront Shankar; in the scuffle, Shankar collapses, and the discovery of a knife embedded in his heart marks a shocking turn. The public screams for justice, and the local inspector—an old childhood friend, Thangadurai Thangadurai—is called to the scene.

In a cruel twist of fate, Thangadurai reveals himself not as a helper but as a controller of fate. He has found the real murderer but refuses to reveal the truth to the judge, insisting that Sathya and Sivakozhundhu face a harsher punishment—life imprisonment or even the death sentence. The two friends escape from prison that very night, consumed by fear and the desire to clear their names. On their way, Sathya seeks a final word with Ramya at her hostel. There, Ramya discloses a crucial piece of evidence: she used the park surveillance footage and handed it to Thangadurai, who discovered that a man named “Baby” Kumar had tossed the knife from a distance as Shankar fell. Thangadurai’s explanation is chillingly ambiguous, praising Ramya’s loyalty but also toying with Sathya and Sivakozhundhu by suggesting they are still his pawns, keeping them unsettled and restless.

Terrified of the consequences if they remain in their cells, Sathya and Sivakozhundhu search for an exit they had used before. They fail to locate the tunnel but notice two other prisoners slipping away through a different route. In a desperate bid to escape capture, they surrender the other two inmates and return to the police, claiming they only pursued the tunnel to catch those two. The morning after, the pair is released, and the real culprit—Kumar—faces arrest for Shankar’s murder. The tangled web of love, loyalty, misjudgment, and improvised choices leaves Sathya and Sivakozhundhu with a second chance, while Ramya’s truth and Thangadurai’s machinations linger as haunting echoes of a night when duty, friendship, and desire collided in the city of Trichy.
