Nagin 1976

Professor Vijay Sunil Dutt is a snake expert who clings to an old Indian myth: after a certain age, a cobra can shed its form and walk among humans. With this belief guiding him, he plans a forest journey alongside his friends: Raj Feroz Khan, Rajesh Vinod Mehra, Uday Kabir Bedi, Kiran Anil Dhawan, and Suraj Sanjay Khanna.

Deep in the woods, Vijay’s theory edges toward reality as he crosses paths with two shapeshifters: Nag, the male serpent, brought to life by Jeetendra, and Nagin, the female serpent portrayed by Reena Roy. The group’s skepticism doesn’t waver Vijay; if anything, it fuels his resolve to prove his lifelong hypothesis.

On the night of a full moon, when the myth says the snakes consummate, the travelers press deeper into the forest. In the ensuing chaos, Kiran fires at Nag, an act that will set off a chilling chain of vengeance. The moment Nag falls, Nagin swears vengeance. She uses the dying Nag’s gaze to identify his killers and embarks on a brutal murder spree, determined to make them pay.

First, Kiran falls victim to the serpentine curse. Panic spreads among the survivors as fear takes hold. Next, Nagin targets Rajesh by taking the guise of his girlfriend Rita Yogeeta Bali, a deceptive move that leaves the group reeling and desperate.

Amid the terror, Vijay seeks help from a powerful snake charmer who offers protective lockets. The charm’s promise is tested as Nagin mocks the charmer, insisting that he cannot save them. In the midst of the chaos, she forcefully seizes Uday’s locket during a scuffle with a goon and kills him, removing another threat from the circle.

Suraj makes a selfless choice, withdrawing his own locket to shield his beloved daughter Anu. He dies, passing the weight of Anu’s safety to Vijay. The danger escalates as Raj is slain by Nagin, who has taken the form of the Rajkumari Mumtaz Askari, a devastating deception that shatters the remaining trust within the group.

In the final confrontation, Vijay—now the sole survivor—faces a direct assault from Nagin. She dies in the struggle, tumbling from a terrace as the last image of the vengeful serpents fades. The story concludes with Nagin reuniting with Nag in the afterlife, a somber end that echoes the film’s mythic core: power, transformation, and the cost of belief.
