Karunakaran Natraj [M. Sasikumar], Paandi [Bharani], and Chandran [Vijay Vasanth] are a tight trio who eat, sleep, and joke their way through daily life in Rajapalayam, while each of them nurses a personal dream. Karuna is a top history graduate who dreams of a government job, valued by his family even if his father, Natraj (L. Raja), occasionally mocks the relevance of his degree. His devoted mother, grandmother, and sister Pavithra [Abhinaya] keep faith in him, and Karuna’s heart belongs to Nallammal [Ananya], the daughter of a distant relative. The tension between love and practicality drives a lot of the early tension: Karuna’s pursuit of stability hinges on a job, while Nallammal’s father remains wary, making a marriage possible only if Karuna secures a government post. The trio’s camaraderie anchors the film as they chase different versions of success, with Pavithra’s own path intertwined with Chandran’s ambitions.

A new turn arrives with Saravanan, a childhood friend of Karuna from Kanyakumari, who arrives in town bearing his own heartbreak. He’s a son of power in politics and is in love with Prabha Pazhanivelraman [Shantini Deva], daughter of the wealthy Pazhanivelraman [Jayaprakash]. After seeing Saravanan’s despair following a suicide attempt over love, the three friends vow to help unite the lovers. They head to Namakkal to seek help from Maariyappan [Ganja Karuppu], and together they hatch a plan. The friends’ efforts culminate in abducting Prabha while she visits the Anjaneya temple with her family, a decision driven by desperation but that soon spirals into a violent clash between families. The fallout is brutal: Karuna sustains a scar near his eye, Paandi is rendered deaf by a pipe strike, and Chandran loses a leg after a dangerous fall from a passing truck. Pazhanivelraman, furious once he learns who aided the escape, sends his goons after Karuna’s family, leading to the devastating death of Karuna’s grandmother.

The funeral and the subsequent arrest of Karuna expose the fragility of the trio’s dreams. Sudalai’s disdain for Karuna’s prospects leads to a fierce confrontation that reveals deeper family loyalties and the limits of parental control. Natraj publicly defends his son, declaring that Karuna’s choices will always be supported, while Sudalai wrestles with his own pride and the possibility that his daughter might marry a man who will never bow to his demands. The tension is personal and painful, and Nallammal’s heart is torn between her love for Karuna and her father’s threats. It’s a brutal adjustment, but it begins to shape them differently: Pandi, who could previously hear only the noise of rejection, receives a hearing aid that restores his ability to hear, while Chandran, who once walked with a limp, adapts with a prosthetic leg and the unwavering support of Pavithra and his father. Karuna returns home bearing the trauma of his grandmother’s death, and the family’s grief reframes his choices. His father advises him to let go of Nallammal due to her father’s obstinacy, and Karuna accepts the reality that his dream may be unattainable. Yet the family’s resilience endures, and Pavithra’s and Chandran’s romance finds its own renewal as they gain the blessing to marry.

In the wake of these trials, Pavithra’s future becomes a shared project: with Karuna’s father’s blessing and Chandran’s renewed determination, Pavithra’s life begins to align with a hopeful future. The emotional toll of Karuna’s heartbreak weighs heavily, and the film refuses to shy away from the cost of choosing a path that steadies one’s life at the expense of personal longing. As the legal case against the trio is withdrawn, they discover that Saravanan and his former lover have their own plans for second chances, and the three friends travel back to Kanyakumari to confront the reality of other people’s choices.
