Oh Goo-joo Park Ye-jin was once a famous producer who left the music industry after tragedy struck one of her idol group members. When she encounters Lee Yoo-jin, a trainee who had been kicked out of Star Music after years of training to become a singer, Goo-joo recognizes a spark of potential and sets out to shape a comeback. Believing Yoo-jin could be a star, Goo-joo builds an idol group called Mr. Children and begins guiding their path to stardom, shaping their sounds, routines, and stage presence with a steady hand.

Mr. Children is built around four distinct talents: the leader Yoo-jin, who cares only about singing; the dancer Ji-oh, Jay Park as Ji-oh, who carries an idol-like aura; the vocalist Hyun, Ahn Seo-hyun as Han Eun-seo, who used to run a karaoke; and the rapper Ricky, Kim Soo-ro as Sa Hee-Moon, who learned Korean through rapping. Under Oh Goo-joo’s careful coaching, they undergo grueling training to build their musical skills, choreography, and ensemble chemistry, all while navigating the pressures of rising fame and the demands of a demanding industry.

Soon, the band attracts public attention, and their fan base grows rapidly, elevating them to the status of the era’s most talked-about rookies in 2011. But their ascent does not go unchallenged. Sa Hee-Moon, the Korean music industry tycoon who heads Star Music, views Mr. Children as a nuisance and deploys every tactic to undermine the group and push for a breakup. Just seven days before the K-pop Festival, Star Music uploads an old video of Yoo-jin in which he shared a disparaging view of K-pop music, sending shockwaves through fans and insiders alike. The scandal tests the group’s unity and resilience at a critical moment, forcing them to decide how far they are willing to go for their dream. Can Mr. Children survive this cutthroat landscape and become the idols of the nation?
