Late one night, Barnyard Dawg sneaks into a quiet ostrich hatchery to steal an egg, intending to place it beneath Foghorn Leghorn and coax him into believing that he laid the egg as a playful prank. The plan unfolds as Foghorn awakens and eagerly buys into the story. When the egg doesn’t hatch right away, the schemer escalates the joke by giving Foghorn a sharp rap with a mallet, hoping to speed things along. The egg finally cracks open, revealing an ostrich chick, and Foghorn instantly embraces the chick as his own son, oblivious to the fact that the hatchling is an ostrich and even going so far as to call himself a mother.
