Three interwoven love stories unfold across distinct backdrops: Varun [Vimal] and Anjana [Lasini] in the Kurinji-draped hills of Ooty, Guna [Cheran] and Mallika [Muktha George] along the Tuticorin seashore, and Harris [Arjun Sarja] with Divya [Surveen Chawla] amid the bustle of the city that never sleeps.

Varun narrates the life he built around his love for Anjana, even as her engagement had been called off, and he ultimately chooses to sacrifice his own happiness after hearing the stories of Guna and Mallika. The hills fade into memory as his confession unfolds, weaving a thread of restraint and duty through a romance that might have blossomed brighter.

Guna is a philanthropist who runs an organization called Punnagai, a rehabilitation center for jail prisoners. Mallika, a physiotherapist, quietly pines for him. When Guna fails to unite a prisoner Ilankumaran [Aadukalam Naren] with his family, Mallika steps in to help, earning his trust and prompting him to entrust Punnagai to her before leaving the town. This act of quiet perseverance sets Mallika on a path of leadership and compassion, reshaping the future of the rehabilitation effort.

In the city arc, Harris, a swimming coach, guides Divya, his student and confidant. Divya is determined to prove herself, despite the doubts surrounding her ascent. Divya’s father Thiruvengadam [Thambi Ramaiah] contemplates a change and suggests Elango [John Vijay] take over as coach, yet Divya remains adamant that Harris should stay by her side. A bike accident temporarily sidelines Harris, but his belief in Divya’s talent never wavers. Divya trains with renewed focus and triumphs in the Olympic trial, finishing the race in under 56 seconds, a moment that cements her strength and resolve.

In 2016, Varun narrates these stories, prompting him to write a novel called Moondru Kaadhal. Harris arrives at the book’s press conference to reveal that he is alive because of Divya, whose goodness and calm confidence illuminate the tale. Though Divya had earned her victory in the pool, she dies of a heart attack there, casting a poignant shadow over the celebration. The film closes with Harris’s reflection that love is not something to be asked for but something to be given.
