The 1972 Olympic Games in Munich were intended to showcase a new, modern Germany. However, the idealism is shattered when Palestinian terrorists storm the Israeli team’s quarters in the Olympic Village on September 5th. Following the initial attack and the discovery of a dead Israeli, the remaining team members are held hostage by the militants. A young policewoman, Anna Gerbers, who was working at the games, unexpectedly volunteers to serve as a negotiator in a desperate attempt to resolve the crisis.
