What Is Midwives About?
The premise of Midwives without spoilers.
During a storm in rural Vermont, midwife Sibyl Danforth assists a homebirth with the father and an assistant. Complications make a hospital necessary, but a dead phone line and icy roads keep them trapped. After the mother dies, Sibyl performs an emergency C‑section, saving the baby. The assistant says the mother was still alive, resulting in a manslaughter charge that changes Sibyl’s life.
