Seong So-dan is a young girl who sets out to find her grandmother, who vanishes at the start after saying she wants to go and see “her film.” She travels to the local movie theatre to search for her grandmother and, in the process, prevents the theatre manager from harming himself. Grateful for her courage, the manager gives her a job at the box office so she can wait and see if her grandmother will return.

One night, while Seong So-dan is working, four ghosts appear in the theatre: Wanda, a bulimic ex-kisaeng who obsessively counts her own hair; Elisa, a Joseon Dynasty princess; Hiroshi, a Japanese soldier stationed in Korea; and Mosquito. Each of these spirits mirrors a member of the daytime theatre staff, revealing a haunting connection between the living crew and the ghosts.

Undaunted, So-dan overcomes her fear and joins them as they perform in the theatre at night. Through her interactions, she uncovers that the four ghosts were part of an acting troupe that also included her grandmother and the manager. The troupe was tragically killed at the premiere of their debut film, Minosoo: The Bull-headed Man, and they have chosen to haunt the theatre until that film is shown again.
