At Aligarh Muslim University, Anwar Hussain Rajendra Kumar becomes smitten with a veiled woman who lingers in his thoughts. On a journey to Lucknow, he and the mysterious woman meet Nawab Buland Akhtar Changezi Ashok Kumar, whose influence could land Anwar a coveted editor’s job at a magazine. The Nawab then asks Anwar to tutor his sister, Husna Bano Sadhana Shivdasani in poetry, a task that pulls the two closer and reveals Husna as the veiled woman.

Romance grows between Anwar and Husna, and the Nawab, despite Anwar’s modest means, gives his blessing to their union. The formal engagement is arranged, and plans for a wedding begin, signaling a hopeful future for the couple even as the social gap between them remains wide.

Yet financial strain shadows the family. Nawab’s debts loom large, and trouble intensifies when Anwar is seen in the company of Najma Nimmi, a courtesan who complicates the Nawab’s carefully laid plans. To make matters more complex, Munne Raja [Pran Sikand] is a wealthy suitor lined up to win Husna, even prepared to bid at auction to secure her future and the Nawab’s holdings.

Against this backdrop, Husna’s love for Anwar stays strong, and she ultimately marries Anwar Hussain, while the Nawab regains his wealth and belongings, restoring balance to a story defined by love, duty, and enduring loyalty.
