Men in Love 2010

In this intimate drama about trust and renewal, Charles and Whitney are a young couple with kids, but their marriage is strained by Charles’s recurring infidelity. After being caught in the act with his secretary, Whitney decides to end the relationship. Despite conflicting advice from her friends, Flora and Rina, she eventually accepts an apology from her husband and begins to consider reconciliation, though the path remains rocky.

To try to rekindle what they had, they go on a vacation together. At the hotel, they unexpectedly meet one of Charles’s former lovers, which unsettles Whitney and tests the fragile trust between them. During a private chat, Charles reconnects with his friend from the University of Ibadan, Alex, who speaks openly and tries to resolve the tension.

After the trip, Alex accompanies Charles to lunch and engages him in a conversation about sexuality, challenging the religious views that Charles holds about being gay or bisexual. Alex reveals his attraction to men and begins making provocative advances toward Charles, who resists. The advances intensify as texts, calls, and touches become more explicit, and Charles finds himself unable to reciprocate.

Seeking to coerce him into participation as a mere friend, Alex invites him to attend a birthday party, and there the dynamics turn dangerous: Alex drugs Charles and assaults him. The first part closes with Charles waking the next day, angry and shaken, leaving Alex’s house after realizing what has happened.
