Meet Nancy (Lake Bell), a 34-year-old single woman who finds herself hungover and utterly drained by the relentless matchmaking attempts of her well-meaning yet oblivious friends. After enduring a disastrous setup at her friends’ engagement party—one that left her feeling battered in the dating arena—Nancy has essentially thrown in the towel. She is ready to retreat from the world, barricade herself, and accept a life of solitude.

However, fate takes an interesting twist when Jack (Simon Pegg) mistakenly identifies Nancy as his blind date at Waterloo Station. In a moment of spontaneity, she decides to roll with the mistaken identity, considering that perhaps stepping into someone else’s shoes might allow her to embrace her authentically quirky, brutally honest, and somewhat chaotic true self.
