What Is Mama Jack About?

Set in Cape Town, “Mama Jack” follows Jack Theron, a crew member whose producer despises him. After the producer spikes Jack’s drink at a gala, he lands on the wrong side of the law. To hide, Jack asks a makeup‑artist friend to transform him into “Mama Bolo,” who is then hired by the producer’s fiancée, Angela. Further mishaps arise as Jack also adopts the disguise of Doctor Donald, a Scottish tramp, creating a cascade of comic deceptions and chaos.

Set in Cape Town, South Africa, Mama Jack follows Jack Theron, an ordinary man who once dreamed of acting but ends up working as a grip on a film set. His movie producer boss, John D. Daragon, despises him and schemes to remove him from the production of a Nelson Mandela biopic, Sweet Bird of Freedom. To get rid of Jack, the producer spikes his drink with a fictitious drug, Mama Africa, at a glamorous function, and soon Jack finds himself unwittingly offending all the attending dignitaries, ruining the event, and landing on the wrong side of the law while he hallucinates.
