Vishnu, Biju Menon, is a government school teacher who, after a transfer away from his hometown, travels to a new community with his two children Unni, Ashwin Thampi, and Maya, Manjima Mohan. The journey is shaken by a tragedy when a bus crash claims Unni’s life on the spot, leaving Vishnu to carry the weight of loss and responsibility. Back home, his wife Priyamvadha, Samyuktha Varma, is jailed after killing someone who molested Vishnu’s sister Sreekutty, a act that casts a long shadow over the family’s future.
To shield his family and avoid public scrutiny, Vishnu hides the death news of Unni from Priyamvadha and tells the villagers that she has been admitted to the hospital after the accident. In the new place, Vishnu, along with his friend Sekharan, Sreenivasan the Headmaster, and a cast of locals, confront a disruptive figure named Kaatumaakan. With his friends, Kaatumaakan steals hens and creates disorder around the school, so Vishnu’s group hands him over to the police. While imprisoned, Kaatumaakan learns that Priyamvadha is Vishnu’s wife, and he begins to plot vengeance against the family he blames for his own downfall.
After some time, Priyamvadha is released from jail, and the family holds onto a cautious hope for a better life. But Kaatumaakan returns, tormenting the villagers once more and testing the fragile bonds of the community. On a windy day, Maya leaves with the neighbors in a horse cart, adding to the sense of distress and urgency that grips Vishnu and his household. Priyamvadha wanders in search of Maya and is spotted by Kaatumaakan, who threatens her safety. He presses forward, but fate intervenes when the wind whips through the school, and the building collapses onto Kaatumaakan, killing him.
Vishnu finally finds a frightened Priyamvadha near the ruined school and embraces her, a moment of quiet relief after the relentless tension. With the threat silenced, Vishnu and the villagers share the news of Kaatumaakan’s death, choosing to cling to hope and the prospect of steadier days ahead, even as the memory of recent tragedies lingers.
