Syd, Chris Evans receives a phone call from a friend informing him that his ex-girlfriend London, Jessica Biel, is throwing a going-away party before she moves to California with a new boyfriend in a few days. Syd, who has been deeply depressed since London dumped him, is driven to anger and ends up wrecking his apartment. He crashes the party uninvited, bringing along Bateman, Jason Statham, a banker who delivers cocaine to Syd as a favor to their mutual dealer. The party takes place in a condo owned by the parents of club girl Rebecca, and the night quickly veers into a private, chaotic orbit.
Inside the party-within-a-party, Bateman and Syd hole up in the bathroom, snorting line after line of cocaine, guzzling tequila, and discussing love, sex, God, women, and pain. As the drugs pile up, Bateman pushes Syd to get on with his life and stop dwelling on the past. The private circle grows with Maya and Mallory, who pretend to be sympathetic to Syd in order to snag some free cocaine. When Syd learns that London has arrived, Bateman dares him to go and speak to her.
A heated confrontation erupts as Syd and London decide to step out and talk somewhere more private. Just as they begin to reconnect, a fight breaks out in which Syd and Bateman clash with other male guests, forcing them all to struggle their way out of the party. The tension between Syd and London softens in the quiet of Syd’s car, and they eventually have sex back at London’s apartment. The story closes with a final scene at the airport, where Syd tells London he loves her. London is moved by the confession, but she still leaves, choosing her own path forward.
