Led by Lama Norbu, they believe the living link to the teacher has appeared in an American boy named Jesse Conrad, the young son of an architect and a teacher who live in Seattle. Jesse’s curiosity about the monks’ way of life stands in gentle contrast to his parents’ protective caution, and the young boy finds himself drawn to the discipline and serenity of their world even as doubt gnaws at his family’s resolve. Compassion and faith are tested as the search intensifies.

The tension intensifies when Norbu declares that Jesse must return to Bhutan for tests, prompting a clash with his wary parents.
