LD 50 Lethal Dose 2003

A group of animal activists, calling themselves LD 50, breaks into an animal research facility after member Gary is caught in a bear trap. Unable to free him, the others flee, leaving Gary to bear the blame and setting a heavy tone for what follows. The raid leaves the remaining members grappling with guilt, quietly questioning whether their cause justified the costs.

A year passes, and the group has largely dissolved under the weight of what happened, until an encrypted email from Gary arrives, asking for help and reigniting a fragile sense of duty. Danny, who has been visiting Gary in prison, explains that Gary has traded his body for experiments in exchange for a reduced sentence, a revelation that compounds the moral tension within the group. Driven by a mix of responsibility and hesitation, they decide to reunite to attempt a rescue.

They reassemble with two new recruits — the ex-Marine Vaughn and a second member described as a stoner — and travel to the remote lab where Gary is believed to be held.
