The story

What Is Language Does Not Lie About?

The premise of Language Does Not Lie without spoilers.

Jewish Dresden literature professor Victor Klemperer survived the war thanks to his wife. From 1933 to 1945 he kept a diary documenting the Nazis’ manipulation of words such as “folk,” “eternal,” and “to live.” The film, narrated as if Klemperer reads his journal in late 1945, mixes his analysis with personal photos and newsreel footage of Nazi leaders and German life, exposing the dread beneath his dispassionate tone.
