Yet Unnikannan stays, patient and observant, as the estate breathes with a history that seems older than the trees themselves.

Across quiet conversations and tense silences, he threads a telling tale about Krishnankutty, a rumored spirit that terrorizes the village. He slyly implies that within such vast halls, misfortune could strike without anyone noticing, a warning that makes Beatrice wary and wary enough to respond with a guarded (and frightened) retreat. The atmosphere thickens with an ominous mood, where every corridor could hide a secret and every shadow might conceal a truth.

The tension sharpens when a severed head is found outside the bungalow, a gruesome sign that something has gone terribly wrong. Beatrice finally unveils a brutal history: her grandmother was murdered by her grandfather, and the spectral anger she carries is not a mere rumor but a real motive for vengeance. The elder’s spirit, she explains, has been cast into the estate’s echoing rooms, and Beatrice’ fear is matched by a cold resolve to see justice served in her own way.

Against this mounting dread, Unnikannan urges Beatrice to flee with him to safety, but the line between superstition and truth blurs when the most shocking twist is revealed: there is no ghost haunting the house. The terrifying violence is human. Beatrice has orchestrated the murders with the help of Linto, turning the legend of a haunting into a carefully planned act of revenge.

A diary found in the house becomes a key piece of the puzzle. It reveals that Beatrice was a young Sri Lankan girl adopted by a Kerala family and subjected to long years of abuse by the patriarch and others who turned a blind eye. The diary chronicles the abuse, Beatrice’s painful endurance, and the moment she finally strikes back, leaving the grandfather paralyzed and driving her toward a broader vendetta against the entire family.

As the night’s horror unfolds, Unnikannan manages to slip away from a deadly room and escape the tangled web Beatrice and Linto have spun. Beatrice and Linto finish disposing of the corpses, but her fate remains unresolved as the pursuit resumes; Beatrice makes a last, desperate bid to end Linto, only to be dragged back by the struggle. The pair tumble into a pit, and the narrative shifts to a bandaged Unnikannan, who recounts the terrifying events to friends who refuse to believe him, attributing his tale to laziness or fear rather than truth.

Walking home alone after the retelling, he is halted by an apparition-like figure—an echo of Krishnankutty’s legend or something equally spectral—until the final image reveals a dark, unsettling truth: the bloody hand of Beatrice crawls out of the pit, leaving a chilling mark that lingers long after the credits.
