Raja Venkatesh and Ashok have been best friends since childhood. Raja is a milkman, while Gangadharam Kota Srinivasa Rao is a wealthy businessman and hotelier. Ashok falls in love with Shanthi Nagma, a poor girl, but his father opposes the wedding. To support his friend’s happiness, Raja agrees to help arrange the wedding, which stirs Gangadharam’s anger. Meanwhile, Raja also finds love and eventually marries Subbu/Subbalakshmi, a connection that adds another layer to the evolving relationship between the two families.

Gangadharam, determined to drive a wedge between the friends, hints at building a hotel on Raja’s land and even transfers the land to Ashok without accepting payment. Later, when Gangadharam threatens to bring down Raja’s house, tensions escalate: Raja slaps Gangadharam in anger, and Ashok responds by slapping Raja, breaking their long-standing friendship.

Gangadharam orders the bulldozing of Raja’s house, further inflaming Raja, who now blames Ashok for the misfortunes. Undeterred, Raja uses hard work and honesty to rise and becomes the city’s leading hotelier, the biggest businessman in town.

Ashok’s younger brother Srikanth and Raja’s younger sister Kamala study in the same college. Srikanth traps Kamala and marries her to take revenge on Raja, and he frequently harasses her, adding a bitter personal conflict to the narrative.

During an auction, Raja tricks Ashok into buying a plot for 12 crores, far above its true value of around 3 crores. Raja then buys the entire property—Ashok’s holdings included. Yet, guided by the memory of their friendship, Raja returns the property to Ashok, attempting to restore some balance between them.

Ashok uncovers the scheming of his father with the help of his cousin Prabhakar, while Daniel emerges as a common enemy of both Raja and Ashok and teams up with Gangadharam. The two plot to kill Raja by poisoning his milk factory. Kamala, caught in the middle, passes along information to Ashok, and as a consequence, she endures torture from Srikanth and Gangadharam.

Raja intervenes to save Kamala and discovers the poison plot. At the same time, Ashok goes to stop Daniel but is injured; Raja arrives to save him. The two heroes join forces, bring down Daniel and Gangadharam, and their shared crisis paves the way for a renewal of friendship between Raja and Ashok.
