Kathir Kathir is a selfish young man who clings to the idea of a job that meets his high standards, even as he navigates a life already touched by marriage and a child. His wife, Anitha Reshmi Menon, carries the family’s daily burden as the breadwinner, keeping things together with quiet resilience. A friendly neighbour and pseudo father figure, Prabhakar Charle, steps in to help him find work, landing him a position as an informant for a local police inspector who isn’t exactly on the side of the law. The arrangement feeds Kathir’s ego and his penchant for quick, risky payoffs, and he becomes determined to exact revenge on a violent bar owner who publicly humiliated him in front of friends.

With Kathir’s tip-off, the police raid the bar and arrest the owner for running an illegal gambling den as a side business, a victory that momentarily flatters his pride. But the triumph is short-lived. One night, Prabhakar is murdered by a group of thugs, and Kathir, suddenly terrified, flees into the night. Paranoia gnaws at him as he starts to suspect that the informant system may be compromised, and that the danger around him runs deeper than a single hit-and-run act of violence. The truth begins to unfold: the inspector he’s been working for has begun collaborating with the bar owner, drawn in by the promise of a hefty commission for turning a blind eye to their underground enterprises. Kathir finds himself as the sole witness to many of the inspector’s corrupt acts, and the bar owner’s thugs are sent to silence him.

Yet, mercy appears in an uneasy form. The inspector, recognizing the peril Kathir faces, contemplates sparing him on the condition that he stays quiet about the hidden operations within the police station. The toll of fear and moral compromise weighs heavily, but the story threads toward a grounded conclusion. In the end, Kathir abandons the lure of easy power and chooses an honest, steady path, taking a low-paying but legitimate job at his wife’s garment factory and committing to a life of modest integrity. The domestic front remains a quiet anchor throughout, with Anitha’s mother Vanitha Krishnachandran appearing in scenes that remind the family of their responsibilities and limits within a world shadowed by corruption.
