Kathy Tudor Andrea Martin is left home alone on a stormy night as her parents head out, hoping for a quiet evening. She is easily frightened by scary movies she flips through on the TV, which nudges her toward the kitchen to make cinnamon toast for comfort. When she slides the bread into the toaster, a noise from the other room—a tree branch scratching against the window—sends a chill down her spine. The toaster’s glow intensifies, the smoke alarm blares as the toast burns, and in her attempt to rescue it with a fork she burns her fingers and gets a small electric shock. She grabs the phone to call 911, tells the operator to send help fast, and then hangs up, still rattled but trying to steady her breath.

A fireman, a medic, and a police officer arrive, survey the scene, and deliver a brief, practical lecture on safety before they depart. The message is simple and clear: emergencies happen, but staying calm and knowing basic safety steps can matter.

Later, Ernie Stephen Lee appears at the door, posing as a delivery person with a pretend lottery check to hand over. The moment she learns it’s a test, she remembers the earlier advice about not opening the door to strangers. The trio—firefighter, medic, and officer—each take a turn of caution and education, asking her 3 safety questions, then vanish again, leaving her with a mixture of relief and lingering nerves.

Another knock comes, this time from a man claiming a flat tire and asking to use the phone. She prudently refuses, directing him away. The visitor turns out to be Jason Voorhees, a figure from horror lore, flanked by a witch, a werewolf, and a mummy, along with an alien that adds a supernatural edge to the moment. The alien is brought to life by Greg Cannom. The scene blends suspense with sly humor, underscoring the night’s central theme: vigilance and personal safety in the face of fear.

Kathy remains composed, drawing on the safety lessons she’s been given and the inner resolve that carried her through an evening of sudden shocks and uncanny visitors.
