Kaalo is a devilish witch who haunted Kulbhata centuries ago, during the 18th century. After terrorizing the village by sacrificing young children to chase immortality, she was killed and buried by furious villagers, and the fear of her lingered long after. Years later, whispered sightings of Kaalo resurfaced, and villagers claimed she had grown angrier and more dangerous, determined to finish what she started. Kulbhata emptied out overnight; every road to the village was sealed by chilling tales of Kaalo’s wrath, and anyone who dared enter seemed doomed.
A bus carrying eleven passengers on a journey to Kuldevi, however, must traverse Kulbhata. The mix includes a newlywed couple heading for blessings, an aged Brahmin couple visiting their granddaughter, four shameless and drank-sodden friends—Chotu [Amit Sinha], Guddu [Abhijeet Satam], Chutan, and Sushi—along with an NRI couple who love posing for photos for the camera. Among them is a clever twelve-year-old girl named Shona [Swini Khara], traveling alone to spend vacation with her grandmother in a nearby village. Shona’s cheerful spirit soon becomes the bus’s unlikely spark, endearing her to the other passengers.
The atmosphere on the bus grows tense as Kaalo, a badly disfigured and bloodthirsty predator, closes in from afar. She can scent Shona from miles away, and her single-minded goal is to claim the girl. Standing out among the weary travelers is Sameer [Aditya Srivastava], a quiet man carrying a bag of gunpowder with a desperate plan to blast a hillock and unlock a water canal for his drought-ridden village. As fear spreads, some passengers try to use Shona as bait to lure Kaalo away, turning human relationships into fragile alliances built on survival.
The carnage begins as Kaalo ruthlessly eliminates the crowd: the first victim is Chotu [Amit Sinha], followed by the driver and the conductor [Manoj Singh Tiger]. One by one, others fall to Kaalo’s relentless pursuit. Yet Sameer refuses to abandon Shona, choosing to protect her at all costs even as danger closes in around them. In a brutal turn of resolve, he confronts the witch not with fear but with a plan to end her threat.
In the climactic confrontation, Sameer manages to blind Kaalo by plunging two sticks into her eyes and stabbing her with a knife. With Kaalo blinded, Sameer then dangles a gunpowder bag around her neck and sets it alight. The explosion rips Kaalo apart, sending her fragments sinking beneath the earth. In the aftermath, Shona and Sameer, having faced death together, find their way home, their bond forged in a journey where courage and care proved mightier than fear. Shona [Swini Khara] and Sameer [Aditya Srivastava] emerge as the survivors who carry the tale of this night forward.
Pandit Ram Srivastav [Kanwarjeet Paintal] and Pandit’s Wife [Sheela Sharma] are glimpsed in the village’s orbit, their presence anchoring the cultural memory of Kulbhata, even as the legend of Kaalo fades into the shadows where legends belong. The film leaves viewers with a stark reminder: sometimes the fiercest battles aren’t fought with swords, but with the quiet resolve to protect others when danger looms largest.
