On a World War I American troopship, a devastating torpedo strike leaves soldiers trapped below deck. Jericho Jackson, a medical student drafted into the conflict, makes a quiet, unwavering choice to risk everything and pull the men from the wreckage, even as orders to abandon ship are shouted around him. In the heat of the struggle, he accidentally kills the officer in charge. Despite this act of courage, he is court-martialed for disobeying orders, and the consequences deepen when he escapes; Captain Mack is held responsible for Jericho’s escape and is himself court-martialed.
