In 2013, in Andhra Pradesh, Sarvam, born Mangallam Sarvesh Kumar, is a shy and earnest man from Karimnagar who has spent a decade chasing the state PSC dream. A devout believer in astrology, he leans on the guidance of his friend and astrologer mentor, Pitha, to chart his path to a better life. When a long-awaited interview call finally comes in Hyderabad, a twist of fate happens on the way: he spots a woman in the marketplace and is instantly drawn to her, sparks flying in a heartbeat he can’t ignore.
Sarvam’s hopes ride on a transfer that would bring him closer to home, so he can care for his elderly, widowed mother. He lands at the Kakinada Municipal Office, living as a caretaker at a friend’s house while he waits for the transfer. But power and temptation collide when the commissioner, JC, a notorious womanizer, suggests a Faustian bargain: he’ll push the transfer through, but only if Sarvam lets JC use his house for his romantic affairs. Sarvam’s world tilts, yet his heart believes he has found a beacon in a new connection—Rani—a practical, hard-working woman who begins as a neighborly acquaintance at an eSeva office next to his.
Rani’s life is rooted in reality; she doesn’t buy into astrology and dreams of owning a nursery. When she applies for government land to establish it, Sarvam is assigned to oversee her file, and what begins as routine paperwork slowly turns into an unexpected friendship. As days pass, Sarvam’s feelings deepen, and he musters the courage to propose at her favorite restaurant. But Rani hasn’t forsaken her own ambitions or emotions; she’s drawn to JC, who has also proposed, and she accepts his offer in the moment. A surprise birthday party for Rani changes the course of truths, and Sarvam discovers her actual date of birth. He sends the corrected information to Pitha, who cautions him that their horoscopes do not align and that their union might invite misfortune. This realization shakes Sarvam’s confidence and he begins to distance himself, wrestling with whether love or fate should guide his next steps.
The plot thickens as JC calls Sarvam to his office and demands the use of Sarvam’s home for the night, bringing Rani there under the pretense of a birthday gift. When Rani faces unwanted advances, she tries to flee, and Sarvam, torn between loyalty and right action, chooses to help her escape. This moment marks a turning point: Sarvam recognizes that his impulses to do good arise from a genuine moral center, not from superstition or fear. He resolves to cast off superstition and face the world with renewed self-belief, even as JC starts to derail his progress.
Meanwhile, JC stalls Sarvam’s transfer and delays Rani’s files, prompting Sarvam to push back through official channels, ultimately succeeding when a higher authority—the collector’s office—grants the approvals. A plot to break them apart follows: JC enlists Tatkal, a local broker, to sow strains between Rani and Sarvam. Tatkal’s manipulation exposes some of Sarvam’s beliefs but, more critically, lets JC exploit Sarvam’s house for his own schemes. Rani, feeling betrayed, contemplates an arranged marriage arranged by her family, sidelining her true feelings for Sarvam.
The wedding becomes a crucible of truth. Rani learns the full measure of Sarvam’s nature through a neighbor’s revelations, and she realizes she loves him after all. But the wedding proceeds until Sarvam’s resourcefulness—paired with an unexpected ally—stymies JC’s plot. The head priest, who bears a grudge against Sarvam for opposing a house reconstruction permit, becomes a linchpin in a late twist. Recalling Sarvam’s past kindness—assisting with the priest’s own permit—the priest agrees to help, enabling the groom to faint and cancel the ceremony just as the wedding would have sealed an unhappy misunderstanding.
On Sarvam’s final day in the Kakinada office, he outmaneuvers Tatkal to keep him quiet about their earlier agreement and then publicly exposes Tatkal’s dirty dealings with JC. In a carefully orchestrated trap, Sarvam also reveals JC’s misconduct to the media, including the night JC signed the transfer order, thereby turning public perception in his favor and securing a clean exit. The result is a personal and professional vindication: Sarvam becomes a hero in his department, and his actions pave the way for a new chapter.
Ultimately, Sarvam and Rani marry, choosing mutual trust over superstition and manipulation. The couple plans a future together, with Sarvam’s transfer taking him back to Karimnagar and a plan to relocate Rani’s nursery there, where she can continue her dream with a partner who has learned to trust in himself as much as he believes in fate. The story closes on a note of cautious optimism, illustrating how someone who once leaned on luck can discover the power of choice, courage, and love.
