Jasper Goes Hunting 1944

Mammy counts her chickens in the coop and discovers one has vanished, convinced a chicken thief is on the loose. Nearby, the thief—the Professor Scarecrow—has just finished his meal, giving an almost comic impression of guilt as he settles back into the scene.

A clash with the enraged elephant sends the trio careening back toward the house, and the Scarecrow himself crashes into the chicken coop. Mammy, now armed in earnest, confronts the intruder with a weary, determined gaze, and the clever, if chaotic, confrontation leads her to conclude that he is the thief she’s feared all along.
