In Love We Trust 2008

In contemporary Beijing, Mei Zhu, [Liu Weiwei], and Xiao Lu, [Zhang Jiayi], are a divorced couple whose lives are upended when their young daughter Hehe is diagnosed with leukemia. Doctors reveal that Hehe’s best chance for survival hinges on a stem cell transplant derived from the umbilical cord blood of a future sibling.

This revelation thrusts them into a morally and emotionally fraught dilemma: to conceive another child together, even though both have remarried and built new lives with different partners. Mei Zhu is now married to Xie Huaicai, a compassionate and understanding man who supports her but wrestles with the strain of the situation and the idea of Mei Zhu reconnecting with her ex in such an intimate way. Xiao Lu is married to Dong Fan, a younger, career-oriented woman who initially opposes the plan, feeling insecure and wary of betrayal.
