
Violeta, a spirited Andalusian gypsy, predicts that a woman she meets will become an empress. The woman is Eugenia de Montijo, who later marries Emperor Luis Napoléon of France and brings Violeta to the court. There, the empress’s cousin takes a special interest in the girl, and Violeta uncovers a plot against the empress.
