I Love You, Goodbye 2009

Lizelle Jimenez, Angelica Panganiban, is in a relationship with surgeon Adrian Benitez, Gabby Concepcion. Everything seems to go smoothly until Adrian’s daughter from a previous marriage, Ysa, Kim Chiu, arrives from abroad and moves in, quietly showing her dislike for Lizelle.

Adrian is sued for malpractice, and the investigation begins to strain their bond. Feeling unwanted, Lizelle seeks solace with the seductive photographer and ex-boyfriend Gary Angeles, Derek Ramsay, who is now dating Ysa. Lizelle and Gary rekindle their romance, with Gary admitting that he dated Ysa to win Lizelle back. Ysa tries to win Gary’s heart, but he reveals that he loves someone else.

Lizelle and Gary decide to elope, but Lizelle is stood up. She returns to Adrian and asks to marry him. During the wedding preparations, a lawyer informs Lizelle that Gary has died and named her his sole beneficiary. Adrian goes home to find Lizelle crying and learns that she had planned to leave him for Gary, but Gary didn’t show up. Adrian tells her that he knows Gary because he had treated him before he died.

Adrian recounts his own actions, admitting that he knew Lizelle intended to meet Gary and had confronted him. In the ensuing confrontation, Gary is struck by a car and dies. After Lizelle asks for forgiveness, they resolve their problems and proceed with the marriage. In the final moment, Lizelle lays flowers at Gary’s tomb before walking away hand in hand with Adrian.
