The premise of Hugues without spoilers.
Hugues, a forty-year-old actor, has withdrawn from performing and retreated to his childhood home with his partner, Serge. A director named Micheline pressures him to return to the stage, leading to a difficult ultimatum from Serge: choose between him and the play. Hugues ultimately chooses the play, and during rehearsals, he unexpectedly discovers a group of naked people enjoying themselves in a nearby field.
