Harvie and the Magic Museum 2017

Years ago, a puppet master named Bastor, alongside his three puppet companions—Brainy, Grumpy, and Dimwit—utilized a magical disk to transform himself into a wooden puppet. Fast forward to the present, where we meet Harvie Spejbl, a young boy living with his father, Joseph, and their neighbor, Monica. One day, as he watches his father’s beloved puppet museum being demolished, an accidental incident creates a large hole that drops both Harvie and Monica into a mysterious cave filled with various puppets.

In this cave, Harvie stumbles upon the very same magic disk, which he later uses to reveal an entrance to the puppet museum. Upon entering, they encounter the trio—Brainy, Grumpy, and Dimwit—who reveal that Bastor’s heart had been consumed by the disk, leading them to imprison him ever since.

Eager to put things right, Harvie attempts to place the disk onto a pedestal high within the museum. However, his father Joseph arrives just in time to disrupt him, leading to a moment where Harvie tries to explain the significance of the disk, only to be dismissed by Joseph. Feeling disheartened yet determined, Harvie successfully places the disk in the pedestal, enabling the group to enter a concealed chamber known as the “Hall of Fame,” a space celebrating famous puppet masters where Harvie is acknowledged as a puppet master himself.

Ignoring the warnings from the puppets about a hidden button beneath the disk, Harvie presses it, which unexpectedly sets Bastor free. Now unleashed, Bastor seizes the disk and begins to transform everything into puppets, causing chaos as Harvie and Monica flee into a laboratory. There, Harvie emotionally confesses his failings in front of Monica, showcasing his vulnerabilities. After a tense escape from the lab, Harvie attempts to retrieve the disk but is caught by Bastor, who knocks him off the museum’s edge only to be rescued by none other than Joseph.

The realization dawns on Harvie that the disk houses Bastor’s heart. In a climactic confrontation, Harvie defeats Bastor by placing the disk back in its rightful spot, which leads to Bastor fading away and ultimately restoring the world to its former state. With a sense of relief, Harvie offers an apology to Joseph for the chaos he inadvertently caused. The following day, a sense of renewal envelops the Spejbl family as the museum is reestablished, now proudly operating as a magic puppet museum in honor of the Spejbl family and their adventurous journey.
