Giants Don’t Exist 2017

Guatemala, during the height of the Civil War in the 1980s, follows 9-year-old Andrés, who lives with Pedro González, a man involved in the massacre of his village’s women and children. Haunted by the tragedy, Andrés finds himself caught between the desire to escape and the unexpected bond he forms with Pedro's wife, María, who considers him her son. Everyone in the household lives in fear, grappling with their own demons and the oppressive demands of the Army. The arrival of Andrés' sister further complicates their fragile existence.
